Shout For Joy

This makes my heart happy!

1 Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. - Psalm 100:1. I need to remember this all day, everyday.

Loneliness Can Be Cured

"What should young people do with their lives today? Many things, obviously. But the most daring thing is to create stable communities in which the terrible disease of loneliness can be cured." Kurt Vonnegut

You Are What You Eat

I saw The Value of a Dollar Project by Jonathan Blaustein on DesignCrush and I think it's quite clever.

You could eat this for a $1:

 Or you could eat this:

You could eat this for $1:

 Or this:

And we wonder why people don't eat healthy foods. Hmm maybe because it's about 10x more expensive to eat good, nutritious foods. That makes me mad. Why are greasy, fattening foods marketed so heavily (no pun intended) and so cheap while the beneficial foods aren't? I watched Food Inc recently and it opened my eyes to where our food comes from. I would highly recommend it. Just don't plan on watching it while you eat fast food.

Three things by caryrandolph

1. I gravitate to the button-down shirts in soft, almost threadbare fabrics, the kind that drape in all the right places, as perfect for the beach as a black-tie ball. I wear them unbuttoned to that point at the sternum that might be inappropriate if I lean over the asparagus and feel like raising hell. To build your own library of button-downs, start with a plain white broadcloth, find the fit you love, and rarely deviate. Avoid darts.
2. All I ever really want to drink is ice cold water. Arnold Palmers on holidays.
3. Mom tells us to marry men who are proud of us. I think I want to marry a man who, after the lights are turned off, can still keep me up for hours talking and laughing. We used to do that when we were kids, and we’d prop the phones on our pillows and talk and talk till the sky turned dawn gray. Talk about nothing and name our children and tell the old stories, gossip, laughing, lying next to each other. Roll over and raise our arms and count fingers silhouetted against the light from the street lamp that shines through the window. Fall asleep mid-sentence, something sweet on our lips. These are always the nights that I fall completely in love.

I especially like the third. Too bad I'm a hopeless case when it comes to manlys. Oh bother.

Apocalyptic Park

Moi

So. Abigail and I used to adventure all the time. We even had a whole day dedicated to adventuring. But now that we're both consumed by school (my freshman year of college and her junior year of high school), we don't get to adventure as much as we used to. Sad I know.

On Friday though, it was gorgeous so we decided to meet some friends at a nearby park. Unbeknownst to us was that this park was an apocalyptic park. Okay, I may exaggerate a little. It wasn't really, but it felt like it. See the park used to be a racing strip for go karts long, long ago. Now though it's a ball park with a jungle gym and dog park. If you take the time to explore it though, there's much more.

Whilst exploring we found a creek under the highway:

Beautiful Bridge

A hill with little ravines:

Abbers

And a pepsi can hidden deep in the woods:

Old Pepsi can in the woods

It was beautiful. I love days when you can just get away and explore. Which is why we went back the next day :).

Hope you get the chance to explore some this week!
