Twnety-One

I turned 21 on Thursday.

So, in celebration of me I'm posing a list of my favorite things.

My favorite song (at the moment):

My Favorite picture of myself:

My favorite TV show:

Wes Anderson-esque

Yesterday we went to visit our friend who had knee surgery, and on the way we listened to Noah and the Whale. Ever since I heard about them, I have loved their music, but I forgot just how awesome they really are. Check out their music video, it reminds me of Wes Anderson's style of directing movies, I sort of like them a whole lot. P.S. I'm filling in for Em's usual Musical Monday.

Smiling

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."
- Dr. Seuss

I wish I felt more like smiling.

That is all.

Musical Monday

This video quality isn't the greatest, but the song is superb!

Today, my parents and Katie went to Ohio for a funeral, so Abby and  I have been chilling and working on finishing up school. It's been a relaxing Monday for us which was nice compared to our busy weekend.

Over the weekend my best friend Aubrey came up to visit. We shopped, ate at Nothing But Noodles, went to our friends concert, car danced, watched one of my favorite movies, taught the preschoolers at my church, ate delicious chinese cuisine, and went back to the mall to get Katie's birthday present! It was so much fun!

I hope you all had a great weekend as well! Happy Monday.

What Cannot Be Found, by Copeland.

Isn't this so beautiful? I've been listening to it all week, but I wish it was just a wee bit longer. I love this: "I found your life in grey and white, and never thought I'd color it." I wish Copeland wasn't breaking up.  :(

Musical Mondays

Philip Glass

Since I've put off most of my Music Appreciation work until now, I've been listening to composers all day which has been quite nice. Today I found a composition by Philip Glass and I love it! Here's a brief bio: Philip Glass is an American composer who's composed music for his own musical group, as well as operas, musical theater works, eight symphonies, eight concertos, solo works, string quartets and film scores. He's considered one of the most influential composers of the late 20th century. Also, random trivia, he has lived in American, France, India and Nova Scotia. His pieces are repetitive and I really enjoy them. You'll have to see for yourself though, or rather listen for yourself.

I'm not sure where I found this picture, but I think it's lovely. I wish I could escape to those woods and sleep for a month or so. Life is draining me as of late, but I'm sure it will get better.  Have a great weekend!

Color Coordinating

Abby's and my prom was a couple weeks ago and it was so much fun! We had our friends Aubrey and Rebekah come down (or over) from Nashville and we all were unintentionally color coordinated, as evidenced below. Yes, we're cool like that.

Aubrey and I have been to five proms together and as seniors, this was our last one. It's a little sad, but i'm planning on having many more dance parties so i'm not too sad.

A family photo. Aren't we cute?

After prom, we had an after party where we played awesome music and danced some more. The dj at prom wasn't terrible compared to previous years, but I was disappointed that he played the same song 3 times during the course of the night. The after party was spectacular though, and I was danced out by the end of the night. All in all, it was a fantastic prom!

Anywho, I hope everyone is having a great week so far!

P.S. I don't know why the second photo isn't centered.

Musical Mondays

I haven't posted in awhile, but hopefully i'll be posting more regularly. I really like this song and this video is pretty hilariously awesome as well. The Little Mermaid has always been one of our favorite Disney movies and paired up with a Yeah Yeah Yeah's song makes it even better! Enjoy and happy Monday!

Monday Recap

Here it is again, my favorite week of the whole semester...finals week!

blech

I had an online final today, so I've pretty much confined myself to my room for some serious studying and test taking.

One down, three more to go.

That's really all I have to recap, I just needed a break from my textbooks.

Oh, and I wanted to wish my marvelous mom a happy belated mother's day!

She's pretty awesome.
Love you m-dizzle (her alias in the hip-hop community).

Musical Mondays

Emily is feeling out of sorts today, so I'm taking over musical mondays for today.

This is probably my all time favorite music video. Iron and Wine has such an amazing sound! I aspire to dance like these ladies someday, and it so fitting for this song, although you never would have thought of it when asked "where should we film this music video?".

"Enjoy Life. Think of all the women who passed up dessert on the Titanic." - Unknown

I have enjoyed life this weekend. I am now exhausted. And I'm pretty sure I gained about two tons of weight from the desserts I most definitely did not pass up ( Ok, two tons is exaggerating).

Favorite points include: Hunting around for a strawberry farm with Dad while blasting James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Norah Jones, Jimmy Eat World, Brandi Carlile, Ben Taylor and more, watching movies with Em (and loving The Blindside), sushi, and a 1940s themed murder mystery party. Pictures will probably come... but I'm not feeling like uploading any right now.

Santa's Claws

A word of advice:
if Dave Barnes ever plays a show anywhere near you, go see it.
Reason number 1: his music is awesome.
Reason number 2: he is ha-larious!
So it's like a two-for-one comedy/musical show.

Point and case.
